We are down to the final stretch until we leave on Thursday, June 19th for our pilgrimage to Ecuador. We are a total of twelve people. Two adults and ten youth. There are six from St. Pius and six from St. Matthias - a nicely balanced group.
This year's trip will be a little different than past trips (this is the third) as we'll fly into Guayaquil and spend about 4 days there with Sr. Annie at Casa Damien (usually we would fly into Quito, then take a day trip to Guayaquil). The remainder of the time will be spent in Quito at the Working Boys Center.
We have two more events before we leave. 1) This Sunday, June 8th, my former Spanish professor, Sarah Harmon will lead the group in a workshop on basic Spanish. 2) On Saturday, June 14th at the 5:00 pm at both St. Matthias and St. Pius, our respective groups will be blessed for the trip. After Mass, we will gather at each place, and pack up all the donations that we've received. Our two parishes have been extremely generous, so I'll a little worried that we'll be able to manage it all! After the packing is complete, we'll head down to Canyon Inn for dinner with our families.
On Thursday, June 19th - we'll meet at the airport at 4:15 am and be off!
