Early morning, late night

Last night was great fun, eating at the food court at the mall, then going back to Tangara for our prayer and reflection time, we didn't get to sleep until about 11:30. But then had to wake up at 4:30 am this morning to get the flight to Quito. We had a simple breakfast of pan dulce, fruit (watermelon or papaya) and passion fruit juice prepared by the Tangara staff. (If you ever have the opportunity to go and stay in Guayaquil, stay there! The stff was so friendly and accommodating. And the rooms were really nice). Sr. Annie, Manuel and Hermania picked us up and after we loaded all the suitcases into the van and pickup truck, we were off! The best part of the ride was seeing Sr. Annie sitting in the back of the truck holding our bags down!
Here's Coby - not wanting to be awake so early!
The checkin process at the airport was relatively smooth. We had too
Many bags- 5 extras full of donations - (despite what the website
Had said) but the guy let it slide. Made it to te gate and waited for the plane.
The flight was really short, only about 45 minutes. The landing at the new airport was much better than at the old, no huge drop out of the sky to meet the runway! The airport is not quite complete yet, so there are still construction works all around. They bused us to the terminal from the plane. As soon as we got inside, our luggage was already on the carousel! We had a potty break, then into the lobby to meet our host. Kelly Jessup (one of Madre Miguel's great nieces - and sister to Teagon who we meet on a previous trip) was there to greet us along with our driver and new bus.
After a 1 hour and 20 minute ride, we finally arrived at the center. All four boys are together in one room, as are all six girls. And Maria and I are in a room by ourselves until tomorrow, then we'll have a room mate, a women named Maura, chaperone from St. Peter's Prep who we met on the 2010 trip. We've had free time today until dinner which isn't until 8:45pm! More about yesterday later tonight!
