Otavalo - Lauren & Natali

Today we went to Otavalo, the largest open air market in Latin America. The bus ride there took 3 hours due to traffic, but we did get to enjoy the beautiful view and tasty biscuits and cheese along the way. When we finally arrived, we split up into groups and started shopping. We bargained a lot with the vendors, our best deal being 6 alpaca blankets for $90 (usually $25 each)! Along with our blankets, we bought jackets, bracelets, and other souvenirs. When it was time to leave we were surprised to still have some money left over and were very pleased with our purchases. Otavalo was such a neat experience because we got to experience a new culture, try new foods, and shop till we dropped! The ride back was shorter due to less traffic (2 hours) and everyone was able to show and tell what they bought at the market when we got back to the center. So far, Otavalo has been our favorite day of the trip.

Love and miss everybody!
